I'm back

It's been quite a while since I last blogged. We've been extremely lucky to have tremendous success with our business these past few years! We've picked up quite a few clients, had a few move or pass on and created lasting memories throughout.

We joined Pet Sitters International to enhance our credentials, enrolled in their Insurance and Bond program and received recertification in Pet CPR & First Aid. Peesh's Pets is always looking for new ways to grow in our pet family, knowledge of pet behavior and wellness, and provide peace of mind to our clients new and old that we take our job seriously by furthering our education.

In other news, I've added a new dogs to my own personal family. His name is Finnegan! We got him at 8 weeks old and he is now 10 months. He makes us laugh everyday with his typical boxer personality. We are so happy to have him with us...even thru his naughty stages :)

Pet sitting fun!

I love surprising my clients by teaching their animals a few basic tricks and commands.

Neela is a new addition to her family and was rescued from a hoarding situation in New Hampshire. She came home and acclimated very quickly.  Neela's personality is goofy, fun, sweet and smart but she was never taught the basic principles of manners in a home. So, that's what we worked on. Everyday I would take two minutes out of our regular visits to teach her - with treats and positive reinforcement. First sit and down then giving both paws. Recently, I taught her "bang." I say the word and she rolls on her back in a stay position. This was just a fun trick and she has fun doing it! We're still working on not jumping when excited but at least I know she is happy when I'm around. :)

Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks??

Outside fun time!

Even with the crazy New England weather we still have fun outdoors! Zach loves to play fetch and chase in the yard. He'll have more snow to roll around in this week!

There is a winter storm warming tues-thurs. If you are staying home because of poor road condition please let us know. We absolutely do our best to visit your furry friends in a timely manner during these times! We certainly understand snow cancellations. Also, if we are unable to service your area during the storm we will be sure give you ample notice.

Thank you in advance!!

Unexpected Sleepover

Roads are bad tonight so I'm staying at my last visit for the night. My client was very generous to open her home to me. I'm sure Lilly won't mind either!

Be Safe and Happy Thanksgiving!

The holidays are upon us.  The time for family and friends to come together and celebrate.  While we consider our pets part of our family, they often do not enjoy this time of year.  All of the commotion and chaos can be very confusing and upsetting to our furry friends.  Having all sorts of extra folks in the house can be overwhelming to any animal.  During your gatherings, please make sure that your animals have a safe and quiet place to escape to like the bedroom or their crate.  A special treat or toy, like a frozen kong, may be in order to keep them occupied.  This will also keep them away from any open doors as we don’t need anyone escaping!

In addition, our holiday foods are a danger to our critters.  Many of the holiday fares are very rich and fatty (yum!) which can wreak havoc on a dog’s digestive system while turkey bones and chocolate can be flat out deadly.  It’s a good idea to keep food up on the higher tables and counter tops (even though this will not likely deter those expert counter surfers and those curious kitties).  It’s also helpful to remove the trash from inside to home to avoid any inquiring noses.

Lastly, after all your guests have left and all the dishes are done, it is imperative that you give your pets loves of love, hugs and kisses and remind them how thankful you are to have them in your life!

My dog room

These days pets have become like children in our lives. I know mine are! When I moved into my house I designated one of the spare bedrooms solely to my dogs. Apparently, I had time on my hands  as I created a safe haven for my dogs with crates and cushy beds, toys, pictures and even wall art! I painted them a dog house, bones and paw prints on the ceiling.

I thought I would share some photos in case you want to be inspired to do the same! :) You can share your photos of creative dog ideas on our Facebook. Www.Facebook.com/PeeshsPets

Random News

Since we have the new Peesh's Pets Mobile we've been shopping for the proper accessories to go along with it. We especially like Kurgo Products. Car seat covers do not just come in plain colors anymore. No. They have created fun, unique and trendy patterns to fit every customer's personality.

In other news, I wanted to personally share my feelings on having to say "goodbye" to great clients...

I provide a service to all types of families with all types of animals. Peesh's Pets is a pet sitting business that I have built and run in a professional manner but I just can't help but get attached to each furry, feathered or finned client. When the time comes to say "goodbye" to a client, whatever the circumstance may be (families move, vacations end, pets grow up), it's almost like losing a great friend.

Some say that I have to separate myself as this is just a business but how can I completely shut myself off to animals that completely trust, love and want to do right by me? If having no feelings about losing a client is the way to go then I guess that makes my business unique. If you want a pet sitter who genuinely cares for your pets contact us at www.peeshspets.com we always have the best interest of the pets in mind!

I can't express enough how much I adore my Peesh's Pets family. Without them I would not have met such great pets and families and would not have the most amazing job EVER!! Thank you for making my job one of the loves of my life!
